Why AI annoys me...

Why AI annoys me...

If anyone wants to know why AI annoys me it's this...
I’ve been writing Tarot for 10 years now (and yes you can hire me to write a guidebook for your oracle/tarot deck).
It’s hard work, but don’t get me wrong, I love it and would never give it up…
In order to write three decks this year (that I have booked so far) my workday has been:
  • Get up
  • spend time with my son
  • contact stores and galleries about wholesale options
  • start retail job (about 10 am) work till 7pm plus
  • get home
  • Make tea
  • Answer questions and emails about 78 Tarot (while eating and spending time with my son)
  • Jump on Facebook messenger meeting with Kayti Welsh- Stewart and Delphine Malidore (while my son plays on his laptop near me and we cuddle/chat intermittently)
  • Finish - now (after midnight my time) after a 4 hour meeting.
In order to pay the bills, my “part time” job is 5+ days a week currently, and when I am actually out of the store, I am mothering my child, working for 78, writing and giving client tarot/oracle readings (and yes you can book me for a reading).
An AI writer will feed 78 card prompts into a machine and turn out a guidebook and art in days, maybe hours.
Tarot has been my life for decades. I have loved it for decades.
I am a witch and a Reiki master (meaning I not only can heal with Reiki and use Reiki. I can teach Reiki and attune others).
I am a certified crystal healer. I have diplomas in symbology, astrology, elemental magic and numerology.
My readings are given, and my books are written from the point of view of someone who has lived, loved and studied for decades to get to the point I am.
Stories are coming out about TikTok tarot ghost writers. AI is “writing” tarot guide books & “creating” art for decks.
There is no humanity there.
There is not the wealth of experience that I and my friends in the business have accumulated.
But it is our words AI has “learnt off” and it is my friends’ images AI has “learnt off”.
I know artists who are put off creating by everything they face: AI, the theft, the copyright issues, the cease & desist letters they have to send when they see their art on blankets on T-shirts they never approved.
Temu and places like that are thieves. AI is theft. Pure and simple.
But this anger is turned into imagination. Concepts for more decks, more books, more projects for us to create and art to produce.
