How can I connect to nature even in bad weather?

How can I connect to nature even in bad weather?

This weekend was blustery and cold. It had been raining. I'd been curled up with my dogs doing some coursework. But then I dumped the cozy and ventured out into the wild winds.

Why? To indulge in one of my favourite forms of mindfulness...something I call "whispering wind".

Stand in the woods, in a field, in your garden, even on the pavement. If you're in a safe space, then feel free to close your eyes.

Open the gates to your intuition, to your inner senses. And listen to the air racing past you.

Let your stresses and worries fly away, caught up in the air current, like the seeds of a dandelion, high into the sky. Visualise them all being carried away on the breeze.

Then bring your awareness back to your body.

Reach out with your senses and connect to nature.

Feel the wind flow through your hair, feel it touch your face, feel it blow against your body.

Pay attention to the air moving through blades of grass at your feet, leaves of trees around you, above you.

Listen to how the trees and wind communicate. Hear the whisper, rustle, even roar of the wind. What wisdom do they share with you?
